Animal Sightings!

LAST WEEK
Last week we took a drive up Cottonwood Canyon to see the fall foliage and enjoyed a short hike to Cecret Lake. It was just over a mile to the lake, but it was mostly uphill. Little Lexi walked the whole way!

When we got to the lake, it was littered with people. Most of them were finishing up their lunch, however, and left shortly thereafter.

Brayden and I were looking at this footprint on the shore trying to decide if it was a deer or a moose.
Andy unequivocally told us it was a moose. Definitely a moose. As if on cue, a large bull moose made his way down the hill to the lake. One guy said he had been waiting all morning for the people to leave. The moose paid no attention to the rest of us, making his way around the lake right through someones picnic spot to get a drink. We watched him drink and eat for quite a while.

The kids were very excited to see Mr. Moose!

Lexi walked the entire way back down the mountain as well. Here she is inspecting here shadow.
What's cuter than a two-year-old in pigtails? A pigtail shadow!!

THIS WEEK
Today we decided to take the kids to the zoo because we had two free passes that expired at the end of the month. Brayden told Andy to wear his bright orange Broncos shirt since they were playing today. I was making fun of him because it was sooo bright; we wouldn't have to worry about losing him. Well, as it turns out, Brayden made a very wise choice! When Andy went to the ticket window to buy the other three tickets the employee said, "Broncos fans don't have to pay in my line!" And with that, he let us all in for free!
It was probably a good thing we didn't have to pay. The seals put on quite a show and the polar bear was fun to see, but the only giraffes we saw were on the carousel.
The giraffe exhibit--along with the lion exhibit, the train and most of the rest of the zoo--was closed for renovations. It was still fun to see the other animals though.

NEXT WEEK
Next week we hope to see some more animals. . .maybe a mouse or two. . .we're going to Disneyland!

Brayden is standing by our countdown calendar that shows there are only two more days until we leave.
